Justus Franz is in Russian hospital
OrchestrasThe controversial German conductor has said he was in intensive care ‘between life and death’ in a St Petersburg hospital after falling sick with blood poisoning. He will remain in hospital for another fortnight.
Franz, who turned 80 next month, has 
ussian-founder/”>conducted regularly in Russia since the invasion of Ukraine, losing man y friends back home.
He is now cooperating with a supportive biographer (see below).
I wish him well in his recovery despite our differences concerning his involvement (as member of the jury) with the state run Tchaikovsky International Piano Competition after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. What worries me is that he is in a Russian hospital with blood poisoning. Has he ever criticised Putin or any other aspect of Russia?

Quite the opposite. He’s been a close ally.
