The national broadcaster YLE has reported that the conductor Hannu Lintu has been charged by police with an offence that took place in Vantaa on November 7, 2023.

Lintu, 56, told the YLE reporter that the case involved ordering sleeping pills by mail.

He said: ‘I have been stupid and ordered sleeping pills by mail, they have been left at the airport’s Customs, in which case the event is in Vantaa. I have no idea what the prosecutor is proposing now.- This is the background: I haven’t started transporting barrels of hashish.’

Lintu is chief conductor of Finnish National Opera and Ballet and of the Gulbenkian Orchestra in Lisbon.
