Julia tops Guggenheim composer list
NewsFourteen composers have just been named winners of this year’s Guggenheim mid-career grants, worth around $50,000 each.
The standout name is Julia Wolfe, a capella composer of spatial music.

As we know, women are much more sensitive to social injustice than men. So, if they go compose, they have a subject that men never can touch. In this way, new music finally gets a subject that will speak to audiences.
