The next CEO of Britten Pears Arts is to be Andrew Comben, presently head of the Brighton Dome & Brighton Festival.

He starts the job in September, succeeding Roger Wright who leaves after 10 years.

Comben’s CV:
Born in Australia, Andrew Comben began his career at Wigmore Hall in 1994, moving to artist manager for Young Concert Artists Trust and Music International. He then became Director of the Britten-Pears Young Artist Programme, returning to Wigmore Hall as Head of Artistic Planning in 2003. Andrew joined Brighton Dome & Brighton Festival as Chief Executive in 2008, establishing the Guest Director model for Brighton Festival – England’s largest curated multi-arts festival – with artists such as Anish Kapoor, Laurie
Anderson, Kae Tempest, Lemn Sissay and Frank Cottrell-Boyce. Alongside commissioning works for the Festival with national and international partners, he has developed a vision for the organisation as a year-round centre of artistic activity, involving all areas of the community.

    A good choice, I think

  • Ellie says:

    Good luck to Andrew Comben!

I can see this is a good fit. Britten Pears is losing Sarah Bardwell as ED as well as Roger Wright as CE – double change at the top there.

  • Kingfisher says:

‘all areas of the community’ sounds a bit ominous, but I suppose Britten would have approved.
