Decca has recorded the Beethoven triple concerto with three ex-BBC Young Musicians finalists.

The soloists are Nicola Benedetti, Benjamin Grosvenor and Sheku Kanneh-Mason. The conductor is Finnish (no, not that one).

It looks like one for the family scrapbook.

  • Gabriel Parra Blessing says:

One of the most underrated Beethoven pieces. I don’t understand why critics have always described it as “lesser” Beethoven. I find it immensely appealing, as tuneful as it is exhilarating. My only complaint is that the glorious cello-dominated slow movement, which is but one of a gazillion examples that belies the absurd notion Beethoven was not a great melodist, is far too short. I wish it could go on forever.

Sheku is a marvelous cellist. Why do nearly all of his official photos show him in a slouched/hunched posture? It’s unusual to see a classical artist in this posture
