I am reminded of the recent scandal involving Lang Lang, who endorsed a piano training institution. After parents prepaid a year or even several years of tuition (over $3,000), the piano school disappeared. Parents took their anger out on Lang Lang. In addition, Lang Lang had previously endorsed a brand of infant formula. It has to be said that he and his agent have no concept of risk management. The quality of Chinese milk products is worrying. There was once a scandal in which melamine was added to meet protein content tests, which caused a large number of children to develop hydrocephalus. I have to say that Yuja’s endorsement of international brands that are risk-free and widely recognized is indeed a good idea, both in terms of her own image and risk avoidance.
We are waiting for her embracing the helpful marketing of the type of ointment related to the endemic pianists’ seating problems:

Sorry typo should be 8000RMB (around 1100USD) per kid.
And the SD award for the most tasteless comment of the month goes to … John Borstlap! (Applause)
Well, with all the available photos of her derriere, this marketing campaign should be a rousing success!
Wonderful! I really like this humor!
Since you mentioned Lang Lang, it seems he’s also becoming more astute. He and Gina are now appearing in commercials for underwear and tights for a Chinese brand called LangSha, which seems much safer. Additionally, he is transitioning to international brands like Dior. However, it’s unclear if Dior sponsored his look in the new album though 🙂
The cheating piano training school is now history. His new teaching business is risk-free and held in stadiums under the label “Lang Lang and His Friends” concert, featuring a collaborative performance of 100 pupils, the local orchestra, and several of Lang Lang’s Disney solos. The pupils are from local piano schools, and each pays 8000 RMB (approximately 6000 USD) for around 3 minutes of performance time. It’s quite lucrative to combine ticket sales and lesson fees, all without risk!
Sorry typo should be 8000RMB (around 1100USD) per kid. 100 kids for one concert.
Lang Lang is a business man now.no longer a pianist..(has he ever been one)
what does it says about chinese people?
look at the facials of many western cosmetic companies for Europe or USA…not many classical music figures there….
and yes, she is a chinese excelling in western culture…
Interesting. Didn’t expect Yuja to be introduced as Graffman’s student in 2024.
This is indeed an astutely written ad: probably it was generated by AI based on her concert biography, probably the agent who wrote it had no idea who she really was, probably Chinese do appreciate the significance of artistic genealogy.
Seriously, she should be the next music director of the CSO…classical music needs a new direction and energy…she is IT!…SHE SELLS!
Yuja Wang is,quite simply, A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!
Is that a zipper dangling from her neck?
Yuja Wang and Lang Lang are both excellent pianists, absolutely wonderful. But that’s it – excellent, not truly great. I think that accommodating to all the publicity hype doesn’t put artists in the correct frame of mind. There is a certain gravitas that disappears with commercialization, or perhaps it’s the other way around, and it eventually manifests in the nature of the musical performance. I remember a while ago watching Lang Lang play a snippet of Mozart for a commercial, if I’m not mistakem for an aviation company. That says it all.
