The German administrator Alexander Neef has been given a second six-year term as general director of the Paris Opéra A statement from the Elysee Palace specified:  ‘Mr. Neef will therefore remain in office at the head of the first national lyrical and choreographic scene until 2032.’ He is also charged to continue pursuing ‘the transformative actions’ that he has begun.

Neef, 50. is a protege of the late Gerard Mortier, a truly transformative head of the Opéra de Paris.

    Poor Paris. Six years and – just as his dull time in Toronto – not a single hit. Just lots of stealing others productions. Yawn. Paris, you deserve better.

    so far it’s been very poor so nothing to celebrate but the inheritance of disastrous and useless Lissner needs to be considered also
    Just imagine the class of Monsieur Gall or Rolf Liebermann – Mortier was also totally overrated
