Important news! Women brass players in high level positions in Italy are rare.
It’s a problem in many European countries. In Germany, there are no German women brass professors. Zero, nichts, Nada, niente. There are only 4 women brass professors and they are all foreigners. 21 of the 24 state conservatories in Germany do not have any women brass professors. The overall m/f ratio is about 100/4 and for German women about 100/0. It is also interesting that this astounding situation is barely noticed in Germany and there is essentially no discussion about the entire lack of German women brass professors. It’s as if the entire lack of German women brass professors is not even worth discussion.
To my knowledge, there has only been one German woman brass professor in the entire history of the country, and she retired 4 years ago. So why does a country with 129 full time orchestras and 83 full time opera houses all owned and operated by the government, not have a single German woman brass professor? Quite an impressive achievement for the 21st century……….at least in the eyes of groups like the AfD.
Congratulations! I wish you a long and happy career with great music in your life!
European Community Youth Orchestra?
They changed name to European Union Youth Orchestra a couple of decades ago Norman!
