With Oropesa and Florez away in Vienna preparing for the same opera, La Scala does not have much of a choice. They should have booked earlier.
I saw the best Guillaume Tell in San Francisco in the 90’s. Carol Vaness, Chris Merritt, Timothy Noble…. and the best Puritani with June Anderson in the same season…. Those were the great days for belcanto operas.
