The US-based French conductor Mélisse Brunet, a former protegee of Pierre Boulez, is suing the University of Iowa for sexual harrassment.

Brunet was the university’s director of orchestral studies and an assistant prfessor, earning $84,000, until May last year.

In her lawsuit, Brunet alleges that she was the subject of repeated sexual overtures by Associate Director of Undergraduate Studies Alan Huckleberry.

This person, she claims, ‘made numerous statements that made it clear that he was trying to groom Dr. Brunet to have sex with him — or him and his wife — in exchange for his support of Dr Brunet in the music department.’

Ms Brunet, who lives in Philadelphia, is presently Music Director of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic.

She was formerly with the Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic. She is currently music director of the Lexington (Kentucky) Philharmonic.

It sounds as though there is nothing wrong with Mr. Huckleberry that a Probate Court Name Change, followed by Assisted Suicide, would not fix.
