Chicago Symphony mourns former Barenboim assistant
RIPThe orchestra has eulogised its former conductor’s assistant and arranger Cliff Colnot, who has died after a long illness, aged 76.
Names Chicagoan of the Year in 2001, Colnot assisted Barenboim in training his West-Eastern Divan workshops and worked with Pierre Boulez at the Lucerne Festival. As a bassoonist, he played in the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Music of the Baroque and the Contemporary Chamber Players. He was also conductor of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago.

Told him in 2021 to stop getting Covid vaccines, must have had 8. His nervous system slowly stopped working.
RIP Maestro.
Through his work with students at Indiana University, I learned a lot about professionalism in orchestra. He was always very generous after concerts as well. Thank you, Mr. Colnot!
