Not to shabby of an upgrade – but whatever happened to his stint at the WP? I suppose not everyone is cut out for orchestral life just like with José Maria Blumenschein……

    • Violinist says:

Rudin didn’t pass probation from what I heard.

On the other hand I am not sure what you mean about Blumenschein, he is very much in the orchestral life, he’s currently the CM in Cologne and the Mahler Chamber orchestra. Vienna isn’t for everyone, I remember reading an interview with him, where he expressed his disappointment at spending majority of his time playing in the pit instead of with the Philharmonic. As an orchestra violinist myself I completely agree that spending your best years in the pit is not the dream.

      • WU says:

From what I read, Blumenschein decided to return to Cologne before the end of his probation (after one year (?)), where his place (Concertmaster) was still open, because the Vienna workplace wasn’t for him.

I wish I had that head of hair!
