Munich and Dresden mourn an accomplished intendant
RIPThe Bavarian music professor and administrator Gerd Uecker has died at the age of 77. He was deputy to Peter Jonas at the head of the Bavarian State Opera from 1993 and, after ten years, went to manage the Semper Oper in Dresden.
He managed major talent with very little fuss.
Peter Jonas was the intendant of the Staatsoper in Munich from 1993 to 2006. Uecker was the opera director, the second man in the artistic leading team. Gerd Uecker was Intendant of Semperoper Dresden from 2003 to 2010. [redacted]
