Barcelona chief lands German orchestra
OrchestrasDeutsche Radio Philharmonie – formerly the Saarbrücken Radio Symphony Orchestra – has chosen Josep Pons as its next chef conductor.
Pons, 66, is music director of the Gran Teatre del Liceu opera house in Barcelona.
He succeeds the Finn Pietari Inkinen in Saarland.
Hopefully Pons’ replacement will be able to improve the quality of the Liceu orchestra which was always far below the standard of the stellar singing roster.
