Two lost concertos by Ysaye?
UncategorizedThe French violinist Philippe Graffin has recorded what are claimed to be two abandoned concertos by the immense Belgian violinist and composer Eugène Ysaÿe (1858-1931). The first, dated 1885, is a full, three-movement Violin Concerto in E Minor.
The other is a Poème concertant, aroused by a passion for his student, Irma Sethe.
Both have been reconstructed from manuscript and performed with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic. They due for release on Avie in February.

I can’t wait to hear them! -especially performed by Philippe Graffin.
Isn’t “Irma la douce” a musical?
This will be of interest to the many admirers of Ysaye, including those of us who are not sure how to pronounce his name.
Why isn’t an unsavory detail being hinted at in the title of this story?? Very un-slippedisclike to take such a direct approach to classical news…
