Front-runners were Daniel Carter (Landestheater Coburg) and Sebastian Lang-Lessing (Korean National Opera). But Gabriel Feltz, 52, scored a late winner and was appointed on the musicians’ recommendation.
Feltz is presently engaged at Dortmund and Belgrade until 2025. That will take some untangling. Or long-distance driving.
