I don’t quite think that “all” of Upper Austria will be in the slightest bit bothered really. Bruckner fans, yes ; others will probably say “ Anton who?”

  • Rob says:

Hopefully for the 200th, Bruckner will be brought out of the sarcophagus for a general clean and photo shoot. The last time was 1996.

  • Jobim75 says:

If Mahler is the new Beethoven in concert halls (not necessarily because it’s deep but because it’s noisy I suspect), Bruckner is not yet the new Brahms and probably won’t be.

  • Norbert Trawöger says:

Dear Mr Lebrecht! That is not a tourism campaign. We are celebrating a year-round KulturExpo dedicated to Anton Bruckner in Upper Austria. A warm welcome! Norbert Trawöger, Artistic Director https://www.anton-bruckner-2024.at/en/

  • Doc Martin says:

Most of Bruckner’s output is in fact non-symphonic. His main output is mostly choral, chamber, lieder, masses, Requiem, Te Deum, motets. Works for male choirs, mixed choirs, some piano pieces, quintet etc.
