Papa would be pleased: Meet the Haydn State Orchestra
OrchestrasThe Haydn State Symphony Burgenland will give its debut concert tomorrow in the composer’s workplace, Eisenstadt.
Burgenland has been the only Austrian province without a state orchestra.
The new ensemble will be run by the Joseph Haydn Conservatory. Auditions are scheduled for next year.
The chief conductor will be Elisabeth Fuchs, from Salzburg.
Plans are being made for a Haydn tercentennial in 2032.
How nice, a new orchestra being formed and making it’s debut before any auditions take place. I can see where that’s going. Don’t even bother applying.
Haydn is boring in large forces.
He’s good in piano pieces horrible in The Creation, for instance. In my humble opinion, he’s overplayed and given far too much credit for what he did.
Ron: Wow! You really like to flash your ignorance hidden behind “humble opinion”, right?
Put Papa Haydn (1732-1809) in the context of his time, and see how advanced (and dare I say ingenious?) his musical greatness actually is, whether we are discussing symphonies, string quartets or church music.
Actually, the foremost developers of keyboard music were Bach, Scarlatti and Clementi. Haydn and Mozart just rode dutifully along. And then came Beethoven.
Me thinks Mr. Perry Mason would demand you cease to use his image and name while espousing pretentious and boring opinions of a great composer’s work.
This is certainly a new opinion.
When did Haydn hurt you?
