Surely it is accidental that Ulf Schirmer, the previous music director, was working also in SAME Munich Radio Orchestra, also as chief conductor. (too) Small world… or club.
Also long-time Kapellmeister/principal guest conductor at the Deutsche Oper Berlin. I presume he’ll be leaving that post for Leipzig.
He did a very good Flying Dutchman a week ago in Berlin, among others.
