Angela Gheorghiu records a Puccini premiere
OperaThe Romanian soprano has produced an album of 17 Puccini songs, with piano, for Signum Classics.
One of them is Melanconia, which has never been recorded before.
The release is mid-January.

Nice to hear some new Puccini. I love his canzone (Krassmira Stoyanova’s album, including some alternate takes accompanied by organ, is perfection). But … what the hell is Angie wearing on the album cover and how does it relate to any Puccini role?
