From the Berlin Philharmonic:

It is with profound regret that Zubin Mehta has announced he must cancel his concerts from 19 to 21 October 2023 for health reasons.

The Berliner Philharmoniker are very grateful to Gustavo Dudamel for agreeing to take over as conductor for the concerts. The programme remains the same.

    No wonder he cancelled.

Just let him conduct the second half.

(This almost certainly has at least something to do with Israel.)

  • Rudy says:

Good! Programme remains the same !

  • Santipab says:

He cancelled all three concerts at La Scala last week too.

Hello, was at the visiting the Berlin Phil concert from California and fully expected Mehta. At the start Dudamel pops in to my surprise. Heard him do the Mahler Fifth last year with San Francisco Symphony. Wonderful and with the Berlin Phil even more glorious. Incredible concert with him at the helm. Wow what a combination. I expect someday Dudamel will be the m;usic director of BP
