How to get opera discounts in the US
OperaLudwig Van Toronto has a report on an Opera Passport scheme by Opera America that gives automatic discounts at 85 different companies.
Participants include Boston Lyric Opera, Detroit Opera, LA Opera, Opera Philadelphia, Vancouver Opera and 80 more.
Opera sales, apparently, are still one-fifth below pre-Covid.

Correction: the linked article clearly states a drop in tickets sold of 22% from pre Covid, not 33%. Concerning, but exaggerated negativity is unnecessary (and unhelpful)!

I wonder whether woke programming that is shover down our throats in the post-covid era has anything to do with diminishing sales.
Not at the Met – if by “woke programming” you mean contemporary operas, they seem at least at present to be garnering very strong audiences…………maybe I should ask you to define “woke” (2 sentences max please…..)
Not convinced the lower attendance is due to ‘woke programming.’ It’s just as likely – if not MORE so – that the death of many operagoers because of COVID could have been the cause.
