Exclusive: Martyn Brabbins’ last bow
NewsThis was ENO’s music director bringing the orchestra on stage at the Coliseum at the end of Peter Grimes last Wednesday.
No-one yet knew of plans to slash the orchestra to chamber size, or of Brabbins’ intention to resign.
This would turn out to be his final ENO appearance.

A mediocre musician at best. A placeholder who held his place for too long. Give it to some bright young conductor once the company reinvent themselves in Liverpool. While the cuts are sad, of course this man was always below par.
I’ve sung for him. He’s utterly brilliant.
I wonder if Mr Yakir ‘tagged’ his photo to the ENO Social Media sites as per their website info?:
