A genius, a goddess, a mischief-maker, a warrior. RIP to an under-sung musical original. Thank you for covering, SD.

  • Ich bin Ereignis says:

A wonderful artist and composer who I’m glad I had an opportunity to hear live a few years ago. Her work lives on. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CX7kaeTgLSo

  • Seeker64 says:

As anyone able to do basic factual research on the internet would know, the late Ms Bley, may she indeed rest in peace, has never been a singer, at least professionally.

  • Jobim75 says:

“personality” has never been a better word for this true artist. RIP

  • Mr. Ron says:

I know quite a bit about classical music and jazz and have never heard of this person. “Influential” hardly.

I guess she was so famous the writer got it wrong about her singing.

    • Richard Zencker says:

Your opinion about your level of knowledge may require revision. This is sometimes called the “Dunning-Kruger effect.”

  • William Phillips says:

    She never sang.

  • Mr. Ron says:

All of 9 or so comments about the passing of this ‘famous’ person? And about half disputing the fact she was a singer!

  • Mr. Ron says:

In this area, I can think of only 2 ‘great’s–Andre Previn, who is no longer with us and Keith Jarrett, who is. Paul McCartney too but he is more pop star than jazz. He has 5 classical albums.

    • Pianofortissimo says:

Sir Paul McCartney composed some music to be performed by a classical symphony orchestra and choir. Entertaining but far away from classical music.
