The Boston recording and post-production company Soundmirror became 100% employee-owned today as its founder John Newton prepared his retirement.

‘I am excited about the possibilities this evolution opens up for Soundmirror,’ says Newton. “Our company was built on the strength and reputation of our exceptionally talented staff, and I know that it will continue to thrive in the hands of the employees.’

Founded in 1972, Soundmirror has recorded major orchestras and opera companies including the New York Philharmonic, Boston Symphony, San Francisco Symphony, Mariinsky Theatre, Hong Kong Philharmonic, Washington National Opera, Los Angeles Opera, Santa Fe Opera, Dallas Opera, Houston Grand Opera and Minnesota Opera.

What a superb gesture (more than a gesture!) and example for others. John Newton is an outstanding recording engineer, a true gentleman, and was a delight to work with at Naxos.
