Just in: Berlin to name Barenboim’s successor within hours
OrchestrasA press conference has been called for tomorrow afternoon by Senator for Culture Joe Chialo to announce the next general music director of Berlin’s Staatsoper under den Linden.
Local media are fairly sure it’s going to be Christian Thielemann.
The new Staatsoper director Elisabeth Sobotka, who arrives in September 2024, has been closely involved in the process.
We all love Thielemann.
Great choice! Congrats Staatsoper!
This will be great news for the long suffering musicians!
Thielemann would be perfect to lead the protocols for the new AFD movement, also providing great programming for the new “special places” they will take the minorities.
Tic, toc, tic, toc…..
Its coming…
Mackie Mecker…
My money’s on Chris! He looks like the sure-winning choice based on his extraordinary “track-record”!
Thielemann is far and away the best choice.
Boris. He’s the only one who can do it! Go figure yourself …
“…was jetzt noch kommt?”
The only alternative.
Beyond all other considerations it’s the ever alternating Zeitgeist that determines the choices. It was true for Barenboim and so it is for Thielemann.
Barenboim is a precious master musician who will be for a long time. I cherish the opportunity I had to work with him in Chicago.
