New York composer, RIP
RIPWe’ve been notified of the death this weekend of David Tcimpidis, at the age of 80.
Tcimpidis was a long-time faculty member and administrator at Mannes College of Music.
Published by Carl Fischer, his music has been referred to as a ‘Neoimpressionist,’ for its evocative colors and effects.
Wonderful composer and a fine man. I learned a great deal from him in my last year at Mannes. RIP
A very kind soul that will be missed.
A dear friend and colleague for several summers in California. He wrote two works for me, including a wonderful viola sonata that I recorded this past April. RIP kind sir.
