Cancer claims a Philadelphia cellist, 49

The family has announced the death of Mirjam Ingolfsson, an Iceland-born cellist who made her career in the US.

She had been struggling with cancer for exactly half her life.

In addition to concerto and recital performances, she was deeply involved with a group of contemporary composers.

    Mirjam was a kind and gentle soul with a superb gift, as we hear beginning at 1:43 in the video. Part of a highly talented family, she placed her priorities on the music rather than herself. Condolences to her family.
