The Hollywood composer Danny Elfman is being sued by fellow-composer Nomi Abadi after failing to pay up on an $830,000 to settle her sexual harrassment suit.

Abadi, 35, accused Elfman, 70, of exposing himself and masturbating in front of her.

Elfman paid the first $85,000 of the settlement but withheld the rest, calling her allegations ‘vicious and false’.

Abadi is founder of the Female Composer Safety League.

Rolling Stone has the story.

Is that the best people can do in life in America and the music profession in general?

  • Bone says:

Quite an interesting read. It would seem the enterprising young woman would like to set herself up in perpetuity as the founder of a #MeToo nonprofit. Not a bad idea in the wake of BLM charities to pursue revenue streams from guilt-averse corporations.

  • J Barcelo says:

Men are such perverts…you never read about a woman doing something like this. It’s always a guy, gay or straight., but always a dude.

    • Greg Hlatky says:

This may be astonishing to you, but the vast majority of men are perfectly capable of keeping their hands to themselves and a respectful tongue in their heads. Of course, you have to go outside the arts and entertainment to find them.

    • Allen says:

You wrote “you never read about a woman doing something like this”. Well that is simply because most people would not believe you when you try to report about a woman who does indeed do something like that. I myself was a male victim in a similar situation committed by a female who was in a position of power. To be the whistle blower and attempt to fight against what was done to me seems like a futile endeavor simply because of people like you and society’s misguided belief that women don’t behave that way. You might as well also claim that women do not commit violent crimes. Your promoting of stereotypes only further exacerbates the situation for countless victims.

      • Tyler says:

Men only complain when the women are ugly.

      • Sue Sonata Form says:

My son’s wife was in the labour ward giving birth to their second child and a woman in his office was busy chatting him up/propositioning him. He said, “No, I’m married” and she replied, “well, so what?”

You people need to get out more if you think it’s only men. Fact is, you are simply NOT allowed to suggest women behave like this. The Thought Police won’t tolerate it.

        • Kman says:

Ah yes, the tried and true “I have one anecdote that proves everything” trope.

“my mother’s friend’s cousin broke out in hives after getting the Covid vaccine, so the Covid vaccine is a sham, I will not take one!”

    1) I always pay someone $85K first when they say “vicious and false” things about me, and then deny it.

    2) If someone pulls out his dick and starts jerking off in front of me, I know I’ll kick him in the balls. But then again, that’s why I’m not rich, because I should let him do it over a period of a year, and then negotiate a $830K deal. Yeah, that sounds about right, for $830K, I’ll watch a 70 year old jerking off.

  • The Fun is Still Over says:

If a woman WERE to do this to a man, most would call their friends to brag about it afterwards, not go chasing money. Which is why we never hear about it.

  • Sue Sonata Form says:

“Sexual assault” grifters. They’re everywhere now. The first question they ask is “where’s the money?”

  • just saying says:

Wish you could have included more key details here…like why did Elfman pay $85,000 in the first place for allegations that are “vicious and false?”

  • Zarathusa says:

Another classic “he said/she said” confrontation with the legal verdict showing that Trump-like excuses notwithstanding Danny was in the wrong! Pay up Danny! And stop playing with your instrument if you’re not making music!

    • Bone says:

Another possibility is Mr Elfman wanted to avoid both the spectacle and inevitable unfavorable jury verdict in a city grappling with remnants of known-but-ignored casting couch incidents.
But whatever. Any man that chooses to be alone with a female coworker should go ahead and sign over their bank account.

  • HRoarke says:

Never should a reasonably prominent or upcoming person trust in the shared, and consented loving experience. First it was prenups and now its pref**ks. What a sad state of mind and affairs for humanity. This is exactly why many prefer a monklike existence.

  • Damian Harwick says:

A lot of people talking while the alleged victim is under an NDA. Words like they were in the room.
