Very sad to hear of the death of Dobbs Franks. A fine conductor and a lovely man. Always very supportive of young musicians. And an excellent dinner companion!
Superb musician, both as conductor and pianist. He conducted orchestras I played in several times, most notably The Saint of Bleecker Street; and once accompanied me in the rather-sticky-for-piano Hindemith Tuba Sonata. He will be missed.
