Long, slow trial in German orchestra poisoning case
NewsA court in Hannover is taking its time over the alleged poisoning of two members of the Schleswig-Holstein Symphony Orchestra.
An unnamed violinist, aged 62, was charged in May with poisoning his 93 year-old mother in a care home and two fellow-musicians in the orchestra with a garlic dip mixed with the poison Brodifacoum.
On the opening day of trial, the accused said he had not intended to kill the alleged victims.
The second day of trial will be next week. The court will then adjourn until September, when nine further trial days are scheduled. The accused has been in custody for almost half a year.
The wheels of justice grind exceedingly slow. Meanwhile, lay off the garlic dip!!!
The picture shows the logo of Schleswig-Holstein Musikfestival, which is in no way connected to the Schleswig Holstein Symphony Orchestra.
But it does feature the words “Schleswig Holstein” so that’s enough in these days of rushed journalism.
