Wanna hear Sydney Symphony? Fly me
OrchestrasEmirates has extended its deal with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, whose music it carries on all flights.
At 21 years, this is the airline’s longest non-sports sponsorship.
We believe in the power of the arts in bringing people together. That's why we're thrilled to announce our continued partnership with the @SydSymph until 2025, making it our longest-running non-sports sponsorship at over 21 years! 🎶 https://t.co/csy8rKrQ66 pic.twitter.com/QlobiKCyzP

The Saudis have golf and soccer; the Emirates have the Sydney Symphony! Hurray for the Aussies!!!
And the Australian Open and other tennis tournaments.
It’s nice to know that airlines and musicians can get on, sometimes! And good to know that classical music sponsorship still happens, when firms are dazzled so often by sports sponsorship!
The Fairmont Copley Plaza has been the Official Hotel of the Boston Symphony and Boston Pops for over 20 years, and American Airlines the Official Airlines of the Boston Pops for much longer than that. Both true partners in every sense of the word, providing millions of dollars in financial support over the years as well as impeccable guest artist hospitality season after season. Doesn’t get any better.
So can you fly with emirates with a cello without any hassle?
In my experience with two
major airlines, such sponsorships tend to be limited to donation of air tickets rather than cash. Not that this is to be downplayed in any way with an orchestra like the Sydney Symphony. Flying conductors and soloists from Europe and the East Coast of the USA will normally be in business class and no doubt would cost as much as US$100,000 or more annually if purchased at full cost. So kudos to both Emirates and the SSO.
In the 1980s the LSO had British Airways.
