Scots appoint English music director
OrchestrasThe National Youth Orchestras of Scotland have named Catherine Larsen-Maguire as their first ever music director.
It’s an interesting appointment. Catherine Larsen-Maguire, born in Manchester and now living in Berlin, was principal bassoonist at the Komische Oper Berlin for ten years before turning a decade ago to conducting.
Congratulations! She is a very good conductor.
I know her. She’s good.
I heard her conduct a fine amateur orchestra in the Philharmonie Berlin. Her conducting was excellent and the outcome was remarkable. Best wishes to Catherine for her new job.
