The chief rabbi of Ukraine had a lucky escape while trying to save people from the floods unleashed by the Russian dam blast.

This is not music related. It’s about humanity.

As I follow what’s being reported from Ukraine, I despair of the Russian government, its leader, and of the inability of the Russian people to bring that government to heel. Their culture had produced some of the most incredible music, poetry, prose, science, and athletics our race (human) has seen. When you look at what Russia is now, one can only wonder if any of that was just a sort of ‘Potemkin village’ of the mind?

Your comments could apply to Germany, 1933-1945. The world was shocked that a nation admired for its music, literature, scientific achievements, philosophers and athletics could descend into savagery. Germany has recovered from this period of insanity and is again a respected nation. A change in government and leadership is necessary.

Seems unlikely that Russia will ever become a politically (as opposed to technologically and to a lesser extent musically) civilized nation as Germany is today. They have no history of this, having always been a political despotism, centuries of extreme bigotry, human rights violations etc. Probably genetic in a way as well as cultural lacking the Western European capacity for intellectual enlightenment, freedom etc. More of an Oriental Authoritarian mindsight to be sure as Karl Wittfogel pointed out.

The Ukraine war could have been avoided by Ukraine respecting the Minsk agreements

    • LearnMore says:

Russian war could have been avoided by majority of Russian citizens respecting life, international laws, and not invading territories of other countries. Chechya, Moldova (Pridnestrovie), Georgia, Syria … also related to the Minsk agreements according to your statement above?

    • Tom Phillips says:

I suppose the Jews were equally guilty of “provoking” the Germans, Kulaks of offending Stalin etc.

  • Sulio Pulev says:

1.If its not music related, do not publish, there are enough political sites.
    2. Its clear for everybody, except washed minds that it was destroyed by Ucrainians. Russians have less possible interest to destroy it.

    • Tom Phillips says:

There will never be enough sites to document all the massive human rights violations and related crimes carried out by your horror show of a country, both historically and today.

  • Gerald Brennan says:

Nobody comes here to get ‘humanity.’ But hey, I get it. It’s your blog…
