Lovely…and that looks like it will be a fine hand for the keyboard!

  • trumpetherald says:

The marvelous Karina Cannelakis also has given birth to a daughter a little more than a week ago…

  • Luiz F. says:

Congratulations to her! Khatia is a great pianist, and seems to be an even greater human being.

  • Sue Sonata Form says:

Just wonderful!! Hope mother and baby are both doing well.

  • Ulex says:

She’s giving a concert in France a month from now? So I’d like to know why she’s pulled out of the concert she was due to give in Melbourne, Australia in November. Bought tickets for that, and now we’re getting some Chinese bloke instead.

    • Malcolm James says:

I think she lives in France. In these situations it’s one thing giving a concert in your own backyard and another travelling halfway round the world on what would surely have been a tour.

    • Billie says:

Don’t you think that the reason might be that baby is too small to travel all the way to Australia and that she will play perhaps in Europe during these first months???

    • Guest says:

The replacement is not an average Chinese bloke. He is Haochen Zhang, the 2009 Cliburn winner. If he’s good for Philadelphia, La Scala, Boston, and Berlin, a few recent places he performed, he is more than good enough for Melbourne!

      • Madeleine Richardson says:

A touch of the Barry Humphries’ character, Sir Les Patterson, Australia’s Cultural AttachĂ©.

    • Violinophile says:

Could it be because Australia is just a tad more remote for her than France, especially in her current condition? Does the Chinese bloke have a name?

    • trumpetherald says:

Well, she lives in France….getting to Australia is very strenous and time consuming,as much as i love the country and the people there.

    • Jack says:

You couldn’t possibly say somebody else, could you?
You had to mention the guy’s nationality. I’m sure that makes a big difference.

  • John Williams says:

As an Australian I must apologise for that comment, and to my Chinese friends. But was so looking forward to Khatia. Fully understand though. All the best with motherhood dear K.

  • John King says:

Ah, she will make a fine mother! And, for anyone who heard her and Gvantsa sing ‘Adamiani’ at the end of that recital on YouTube, the baby will be hearing lovely lullabies by Mommy & Big Sister!

  • Diana says:

Why do I see on Wikipedia that she has died in UK? Dear God. I hope not
