Gergiev conducts both Mariinsky stages on same night
NewsThe recently disabled Valery Gergiev appears to have lost none of his macho energies. Our correspondent tells us this is what he did last night at the Mariinsky Theatre in St Petersburg:
At Mariinsky second stage he started The Legend of the Invisible City of Kitezh and Maid Fevronia at 6PM. After the 1st act there was a break of one hour. Meanwhile Gergiev went to the Historic Stage of Mariinsky, conducted the ballet premiere of The Miraculous Mandarin by Bartok (35 min) at 7PM. Then he came back to the Mariinsky-2 and finished Rimsky-Korsakov’s opera.
Valery Gergiev turned 70 in May.
Haters gonna hate, meanwhile all the conductors want to do the same. Gergiev is a God of Conducting in every term, but don’t miss the chance to dislike this comment and say the common things:
1. We need a conductor with 999 rehearsals and 8 concerts per year
2. He must have neither instagram, nor facebook. No ads, no fashion, just pure music thoughts
3. He must be old, but at the same time young
4. Only black concert dress, 2-meter baton, no jumping, no head shaking, just pure music
Of course, there is no middle ground between a conductor who only rehearses and never performs, and a conductor who literally conducts a second performance during his first performance.
Irony?
It appears that the Russian haters have not diminished his joie de vie.
It turns out that racist sanctions are weaker than musical genius. Maybe after another couple trillion dollars of aid Gergiev will only conduct one concert a night.
‘Joie de vivre'(sp)? Ask many of those who have worked under his tyrannical baton.
Not the first time he has conducted in more than one of his venues in one night.
Each totally unprepared.
Why have the best orchestras in the world hired him if he doesn’t prep the orchestra?
Imagine what it is like for his wife and mistress.
