There’s a Shaham in the finals at Montreal
NewsThe Concours musical international de Montréal has whittled down 24 violinists to six finalists.
They are:
1. Dmytro UDOVYCHENKO (Ukraine)
2. Nathan MELTZER (United States)
3. Michael SHAHAM (Israel)
4. SongHa CHOI (South Korea)
5. SooBeen LEE (South Korea)
6. Ruslan TALAS (Kazakhstan)
Michael, 20, is son of Haggai Shaham, professor at the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music, and nephew of mezzo-soprano Rinat Shaham
I listened on live stream, incredibly good players this year compared to the other years! Still, I found that everyone in the semifinal had pros and cons

Nathan Meltzer is amazing. He was the youngest winner (16) of the Windsor (England) strings competition. He plays a Strad and is a student of Itzhak Perlman and Li Lin at Julliard.
