The day Suzuki took over the Royal Albert Hall
OrchestrasSunday’s concert at the Royal Albert Hall in London found 1,300 children playing together on a various instruments, the youngest just five years old. Most are learning by the Suzuki method in the UK, but the Gala – which was cancelled during Covid – included children from more than 20 countries.
Here’s how it looked.

You’re lucky it wasn’t Yamaha tubas (they DO make some really great tubas, actually).
Does anyone know if the Suzuki method has produced any world class musicians? While that might not be its ultimate aim it would be interesting to know what some of their students have achieved.
Most of the string players in the top-tier orchestras have Suzuki training in their background. These are the people whose parents made a commitment to lessons and practice early on, which is necessary for success in this field.
How lovely… I wish various government/BBC decision makers were forced to attend.
“forced” to do anything isn’t a good idea.
