Such class, such beauty, such enormous talent…

  • J Barcelo says:

That was terrific! Almost made the concerto sound like great music. Argerich was (and still is) sensational. Leinsdorf was one of the greats, and sadly underestimated. Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

    • PaulD says:

I felt the same way about Steven Hough’s performance of the work with the National Symphony in DC. I could not help but think, “He’s really making me like this piece.”

    • Jobim75 says:

He was very interesting conductor but obviously a difficult gentleman, the fact he came after beloved Munch in Boston sealed his career which almost stopped after that , too bad

    • Dargomyzhsky says:

It is great music. It sounds as though it isn’t when badly played, as always with Liszt.
Argerich plays with even more technical address 50 years on, which is almost unprecedented.

  • MMcGrath says:

SUCH a pleasure to watch and listen to these two. Leinsdorf was such an underappreciated conductor, I feel. But I had many enjoyable evenings at the Metropolitan Opera with him in the pit.
Thank you for sharing this video.

Meh, it’s a concert. Im not on board with this business of worshipping Martha Argerich. She’s a human like everyone. It’s just ok.
