The pianist and Cleveland professor Antonio Pompa-Baldi, a regular jury member on international competitions, has been coopted by a Lang Lang operation.

He writes:
‘I received the honor of being named Vice Director for Education at Lang Lang Art World. Located in Hangzhou, China, this is an arts organization nurturing and providing opportunities for young talent. Thank you, Lang Lang, for your trust, and many thanks to the whole wonderful organization, as well. I look forward to the ceremony of May 3, formalizing the appointment, and the rest of my residency there, which includes masterclasses and a recital, as well. I am equally looking forward to our continued relationship.’

In Thailand, there is a Chinese music TV channel that features several Chinese orchestras playing Western and Chinese compositions. All of these orchestras rival any Western orchestra. There are both Western and Chinese conductors. MR.Pompa-Baldi has been given a great opportunity to further the musical education of Chinese students. If the East/West dichotomy is ever to be lessened, music will be a great vehicle for that.

What are the names of some of these orchestras and leading conductors? I’m interested in seeing what’s available on Youtube. Thanks!

Seriously, Americans and Euopeans should think twice about taking positions in China. The West sat by and western government even encourages designers and importers to take their business to China to be made cheaply by government infused factories. We sent our people over there to teach them how to make the products. China built their infrastructure with our money including their military. Now China, who has not been to war in a really long time has become agressive and has built islands near the Phillipines which they said they would not weaponize and they have. Their recent aggressiveness towards Taiwan, their going back on their word on Hong Kong should be reason enough for the West to pull their orders and develop new sources away from China to manufacture product and not in factories owned by China in foreign 3rd world countries. For this same reason, we should not be in China furthering their athletic ambitions, or their performing arts. The only way to make China listen is to hit them economically. Isolte them, let their factories shut down, let them have mass unemployment when the orders dry up. If it means the government is finally over-run and they are forced to behave respponsibly in the world and not colonize, the very thing that led to Mao, then by God, do it.
