You’d think they might go dark for a night after the terrible Jehovah Witness hall massacre – but no.

Hamburg State Opera has called off Sundays premiere of a new production of Puccini’s Il Trittico because the public service workers union ver.di is going on an admonitory strike and there might be no staff to clean up after the show.

So it goes.

Looking forward to our April stay at Excellence, Punta Cana.

  • Christopher Stager says:

The best headline was missed! “ver.di cancels Puccini!”

  • SPBB says:

So the entire city should shut down because of the attack at the Jehovas Witness hall? What kind of mindless comment is that?
And why exactly should the opera decide not to put on its premiere on Sunday? If one could consider any show for cancelling, certainly it would have been tonight’s Lucia.
As a member of the Orchestra, I find your comments extremely petty and shortsighted. Perhaps in future more forethought and less typing would be in order.

‘the public service workers union ver.di’?

Why couldn’t workers from pucci.ni take over?
