Sad loss of an activist doublebass
RIPThe Ulster Orchestra and the Green Party of Northern Ireland have announced the death, after a short illness, of Michele Strong, sub-principal doublebass in the orchestra and first responder to vital causes.
Originally from Australia, Michele played in the Royal Scottish National Orchestra before landing in Ulster.
The cause of death is thought to be a Strep-A infection.
Here’s a friend’s tribute:
Incredibly sad. What a wonderful person. Rest in peace.
We’ve heard so much in the news this year about Strep A killing children, but it has killed considerably more adults – please everyone look up the symptoms now and be aware, it could (not definite but could) help save a life.
Strep A is a bacterial infection. The name is short for group A Streptococcus bacteria.
Will miss seeing her as one of the stalwarts of the orchestra.
Norman: Honoured that you chose to include my little video to Michele. She was a rare and wonderful person, who will be missed by so many!!!! XAlice
I’ve heard such good things about her… thank you for that tribute, Alice. xN
