An opera about Anne Frank
OperaIndiana University’s Jacobs School of Music has commissioned an opera on the life and death of a dutch Holocaust victim.
The composer is Shulamit Ran.
The premiere is next March in Bloomington.

So glad it’s Arthur Fagen conducting the premiere. I don’t know why I heard Wilkins because he sucks at conducting.
Two remarks. First, there is already an opera on the same topic by Grigori Frid (1969). Second, she was not Dutch but German. Her family fled from Germany to the Netherlands. Not that it makes the suffering in any way different…
