  • Serge says:

Cute idea from a dying country.

    • Margaret Koscielny says:

      Germany? Dying? Absurd.
Formerly Great Britain on life support; unfortunately, not absurd, but real, caused by combination of Truss economic policy,Brexit and Putin’s War against Ukraine and the rest of the West.
German culture is deep, deep, deep.
England used to be a country which also had deep appreciation. Does it still do what it should to maintain that? At least, Germany still does, in spite of economic downturn.

      • Serge says:

Germany is in recession, UK is not (although they could when the 4th quarter numbers will be published in December.) Germany is in deep sh*t because of its energy policies. They have tried to replace reliable fossil energy with windmills and solar, and now they’re paying the price. For the industrial king of Europe this is a disaster, and it is beyond repair for the coming years. This will lead to poverty, brain drain and social unrest. But it is still a cute idea to give kids money for culture. An even better idea would be to assure them they can have a job and a future in Germany.

        • Hugo Preuß says:

Thanks for commenting twice, since it gave me two good laughs. Obviously, you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about – or you are some sort of AfD Querdenker.

Let me assure you that life in Germany is fine, and young people have plenty of job opportunities.

I live in a city with 100.000 people with a city funded professional orchestra. Within a 90 minute driving rage there are nine professional opera houses.

The obituary is a bit premature.

          • Serge says:

            Dear Hugo,

I’m happy that you’re enjoying your life. That certainly serves as proof that you are enjoying your life. If nothing else.

Germany is in recession, and that will mean fewer jobs, higher prices and less, not more opportunities for young people. And then it will not help with nine operahouses within 90 minutes, because this is not where they’ll spend their money.

There are some expressions unknown to me here: AfD Querdenker – what is that? (I assume it was not a compliment.)

          • Fritz Grantler says:

I suggest you read the FT and The Economist about the dire condition of the U.K. economy . And the broken political system….How many Prime Ministers has the U.K. had in the last eight years ?

        • Fritz Grantler says:

          Serge, Baby

          The U.K. is a mess…and you know that….Spare us your “analysis ” of Germany….

          • Serge says:

            Dear Fritz (grown up man?),

who is talking about the U.K? The thread is about Germany. I understand you need to distract the attention from the Energiwende, “Wir schaffen das” and all other disastrous decions made by German romantic politicians, but the writing is on the wall:

            Recession.

            Like it or not.

          • Fritz Grantler says:

Serge – Oder Sergei ? Bist du ein Russe ?
There is a worldwide economic recession .The U.K. economy is a mess , as is their political system . So have some Earl Gray tea , and spare us your boring “Leitmotif “.This is a site devoted to classical music – no one is interested in your sophomoric pontificating about Germany…

  • Alan says:

Still. Brexit. Blue passports. It’s all good

  • william osborne says:

The cost of the program is €150 million which is equal to the entire budget of the NEA in the USA. France established a similar program in 2021.

  • T. says:

    Why „Schadenfreude“?
The photo looks strange. What are they doing with their arms?

    • Margaret Koscielny says:

Someone chose a picture to “push buttons”…it’s obviously, a pop music concert. Such gestures are “normal” in these venues.

  • Maria says:

Okay if the schools are doing there job by educating kids in the first place. Football the culture there too rather than go to a concert as of old.
