Cleveland gets $5m youth orchestra gift from two teachers
NewsThe Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra has received a $5 million gift from Geoffrey and Sarah Gund, it was announced tonight.

There is nothing more important than supporting students who are working hard and show potential for special achievement. The Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra combines our love of music and our admiration of professional musicians who teach the discipline required to achieve excellence. We are delighted to support the Youth Orchestra that gives so much to Cleveland and beyond,’ Geoffrey Gund said.

The name “Gund” has some historical wealth significance in Cleveland. Just a guess if it’s relevant here.
He’s an heir to a banking and real estate mega-fortune, and a lawyer who could afford to teach (at Dalton in NYC). There’s a building at Harvard named for his family.

School teachers are also abysmally paid in the USA. There must be more to the story.
