Paris names new ballet chief
NewsThe Opéra de Paris has chosen the Spanish dancer José Carlos Martinez as its next director of ballet.
He succeeds the unlucky Aurélie Dupont in December.
Martinez, 53, has been artistic director of the Spanish National Dance Company for the past dozen years.
Paris, one of the most prestigious places in the world for ballet without doubts but also one of the toughest to stay a long time.
He should revive all the masterpieces of Leonid Massine before it is too late to do so. And revamp the daily classes to put them in line with those of Preobrajenska and Hightower.
