The Teatro Real has given the under-employed Anna Netrebko extra performances as Aida later this month.

Instead of two nights she will sing five, replacing Maria Agresta who has withdrawn ‘for personal reasons.’

  • Giuseppe says:

Astonishing how Madrid quadruple-casts the title role in order to give 19 Aidas in 22 days!

    • L. Pellegrino says:

Wow! I never knew there was such a over-staffed backup of singers. I know that understudy singers sometimes get a break when a diva gas to step down due to her vocal nodes or other reasons, but to have that many singers on call is an unheard of concept

  • Donna E. Mobile says:

I really don’t like her singing any longer, but it’s really awful the way she has been discarded so cruelly by opera houses!

  • Federico Figueroa says:

I Guess Putin ain’t as bad as it was say he was!

  • Richard M. Braun says:

The morality of opera houses is non-existent. And vete a la mierda Teatro Real y Slava Ukraine.

  • Tom Ponti says:

Anna is hardly underemployed, as she has been singing in recitals and concerts throughout Europe as well as Aida in Napoli, Madiid,Boheme in Vienna and Turandot in Verona. She will be giving a recital and 3 performances of Tosca at the Colon in Argentina soon. Also, Anna is not responsible for the Russian invasion and has had practically nothing to do with Putin for years. Haters will say anything, no matter how false or stupid!
