Israel Philharmonic grabs Met 1st horn for US tour

Brad Gemeinhardt, newly promoted principal horn of the Metropolitan Opera orchestra, is joining the Israel Philharmonic for a US tour, the first with music director Lahav Shani,

Brad writes:

I’m incredibly excited and honored to be joining the Israel Philharmonic as Principal Horn for their U.S. tour next week starting in southern California, playing Mahler 1st and Prokofiev 5th. We have concerts in Palm Desert, Costa Mesa, L.A., San Francisco, West Palm Beach, Miami, Cleveland, and back home for me at Carnegie Hall.     A European (or other non-American) orchestra using a player from a high-profile US orchestra for a US tour is not news, Norman/Slipped Disc. It has been happening since, well, since orchestras have been coming from abroad to the US to tour. Try to keep up…..
