Sudden death of leading English musician, 51
RIPMourning has stretched across the folk, rock and classical worlds for Paul Sartin, oboist and violinist of the Bellowhead band, who died suddenly at 51. He collapsed shortly before taking the stage.
Paul Sartin recently participated in a Vaughan Williams documentary for Radio 4’s Front Row.
A sad loss of a gifted violinist, oboist and singer. RIP.
Just heard the sad news and so sorry. Brilliant musician and always amusing. Take care and sleep well. Thanks for the music.
‘Leading English musician’?
Well yes actually, are you familiar with his work ?
I first saw Bellowhead in 2009 but I’d probably come across Paul Sartin before that.
My complaint is with this maddening web site and I should have made that clear.
Ever seen him play? Ever talked to him?
So shocked and saddened. I only saw him perform with Bellowhead but he was a true talent
Belshazzar’s Feast – simple great music, but astounding live performance with two friends sending each other up.
Won’t now get to see their scheduled late 2022 farewell tour, so listening to the live albums instead.
Wish the bbc4 christmas session 2009, introduced by Paul S, would be repeated.
