Orchestra levels up with new concertmaster
NewsThe Hallé Orchestra in Manchester has chosen its first new leader in a generation.
His name is Roberto Ruisi and he succeeds Lyn Fletcher (who goes oddly unmentioned in the press release).
Ruisi is young, British, London trained and upwardly mobile. He has been guest-leading L’Orchestre National Bordeaux Aquitaine and the RTÉ Concert Orchestra and was appointed leader of Sinfonia Cymru last summer.
So what did happen to Lyn Fletcher? Did she retire? Something else? As I understand, she was a very good leader.
Yes, she’s retiring. She already announced her retirement for 2019, but apparently stayed on for another 3 years.

Did you mean Roberto?
His name is Roberto
many Halle concerts in recent years have had the excellent Paul Barritt as guest leader: a fantastic stalwart of UK music for many years. His Beethoven sonatas on cd are well worth hearing.
